Summary

The eleventh talk continues on the symbolism of the temple and of the offering. The stalls are made for half-rest, so that worshippers stand upright and pray with the arms resting in the shape of a cross; Moses holding up his hands while Israel prevailed prefigures the same sign (Exodus 17), and the lifting of clean hands is echoed in the vesper verse and in the apostolic charge (Psalm 141:2; 1 Timothy 2:8). The six-winged fans depict the Seraphim of Isaiah's vision who cover the head and the feet while leaving the body uncovered, teaching that the divine nature is hidden yet was revealed incarnate. Dimitrios Panagopoulos insists that a proper prosphoron be made at home from wheat set apart, and that the purpose of the Liturgy is Communion, never the antidoron.
