Summary
Building on an earlier talk about motherhood, Dimitrios Panagopoulos turns to the married couple as the true unit of the family. Any real diagnosis of the present crisis must go back to the first household, created directly by God out of love alone and given two gifts, eternal life and the blessing to increase. Envy and human carelessness brought death and toil, but Christ conquered death, while the enemy still works against increase by modern means. His central claim is that God is the one who joins a wife to a husband, and that people now choose without asking Him, so that many apparently well-matched couples are in truth mismatched. Marriage is a shared yoke, and the common cup confesses that afflictions will be borne together; he cites Proverbs 19:14 and Tobit, where Raphael tells Tobias his wife was prepared for him from eternity.
